ISSF Meetings in Munich: new rules, championships and quota places under discussion

The new ISSF rules and finals format, the dates and the locations of next years championships and the Olympic Quota Places distribution path were the main topics under discussion at this year's ISSF Meetings in Munich.

The ISSF Executive Committee, the ISSF Administrative Council and the ISSF Section Committees met in Munich, Germany, between the 20 and the 25 of November 2013.

The IOC President Thomas Bach visited the ISSF Executive Committee and Administrative Council Members aside of the Meetings, on the 23rd of November, welcomed by the ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña and by the ISSF Secretary General Franz Schreiber.

New ISSF Rules, the Rio 2016 Quota Places distribution path, the 2014 and 2015 Championship locations and dates were among the main topics under discussion during the Meetings.

New ISSF Rules

The new ISSF Rules including new finals formats will undergo some fine-tunings, and the current rules will be edited accordingly. Details on the changes will be published soon and announced on the ISSF website at www.issf-sports.org

ISSF 2014 and 2015 Championship locations and updates

The locations of the 2014 ISSF World Cup Stages have been updated: the ISSF World Cup Stage in Shotgun events planned to be held in Rio de Janeiro has been re-assigned to Beijing, after the withdrawal of Rio's Organizing Committee. The 2014 ISSF World Cup Stage in Beijing will be combined in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun events, and it will be held at the 2008 Olympic Shooting Range from the 1st through the 10th of July.

The 2014 ISSF World Cup Final in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun events will be held in Gabala, Azerbaijan, from the 21st through the 28th of October 2014.

A new ISSF Championship, the ISSF Juniors Cup, has been announced and will be organized for the first time in Suhl, Germany, from the 25th of May through the 1st of June 2014. The Championship will include competitions in the 15 Rifle and Pistol Olympic Shooting events. Details on the championship will be published soon on the ISSF website.

The locations of the 2015 ISSF World Cup Stages have been unveiled, and are reported in a separate news published on www.issf-sports.org. The 2015 ISSF Shotgun World Championship will be held in Lonato, Italy, dates to be defined.

Rio 2016 Quota Rules

As for the 2008 and the 2012 Olympic Games, a total number of 390 Quotas in 15 Shooting events will be distributed for Rio 2016. Several proposals concerning the Quota Places distribution path have been presented at the ISSF meetings. The proposals are under discussion and the qualification path will be defined and made public by February 2014.

ISSF TV and Media Coverage

The ISSF Executive Committee and Administrative Council were reported on the 2013 ISSF TV Distribution and media coverage. Following a trend started in 2010, the 2013 TV distribution has been positive and footage of ISSF Championship was made available to an estimated audience of about 300 million viewers. ISSF Social Media and Press activities also recorded a positive trend.
