10m Running Target Women – Chinese rookies led the Medal Match

Two Chinese teammates finished on the first and second step of the 10m Running Target Women podium, today, securing the Gold and the Silver medal

Li Xiue Yan and Zhao Li Li, 24 and 27-year old respectively, both competing in their first world-level event, beat some of the most titled Running Target shooters of the world at their first appearance on the international scene.

The two teammates made it to the Medal Match by leading the qualification series with 388 and 377 points, and then outdid their opponents in the first eliminatory round meeting again in the Gold match.

Competing for the highest step of the podium, Li Xiue Yan did not leave many chances to Zhao Li Li. The 24-year old Chinese shooter outdid her teammate by 6 to 1 points, becoming the new 10m Running Target Women World Champion, leaving the Silver medal to Zhao Li Li.

The Bronze medal went to Irina Izmalkova, the 2007 European Champion of Deauville. The 40-year old shooter lost her first eliminatory round of the medal match against the Silver medallist Zhao Li Li, beating then Natalya Gurova, the 1998 World Champion from Kazakhstan, by 6 to 1 points in the Bronze match.
